Sunless Tanning or Self-tanning is a healthy and cost-effective way to get a beautiful bronze color for your skin. Setting realistic expectations is critical. - A dark shade on naturally pale skin will look unnatural. Better results are anticipated with subtle color changes. Comodynes offers some words of advice for you depending on how much tan you want to achieve.
Exfoliation before the Tan
- To get a perfect tan, exfoliation is important. Comodynes makes a great product called Easy Peeling that offers double exfoliation, both mechanical and biological. Face should be exfoliated with a different, skin-specific scrub. Nothing else should be applied to the skin after exfoliation. Skin should be fresh and dry. Pull hair back and away from face. Remove all jewelry.
During the Tan
-
When applying self-tanning, be sure to do so slowly. If you don´t have enough time, you may be better waiting. If you don´t take your time to apply the self-tanning evenly, your skin will turn out blotchy and uneven. Comodynes makes both tanning towels and tanning mitts. You should wash your hands immediately after application.
After the Tan
- It is only normal that a bit of color will wash off in the first shower after application. You should wait approximately 4-6 hours before bathing (which is why self-tanning is best done directly after showering). Be sure to use a dark towel so that the color doesn´t transfer onto the material. Remember to always use sunscreen of at least 25 SPF when out in the sun. Just because your skin is artificially tanned does not mean it will be protected from UV rays.
